Lūʻau 2018: Huaka'i i Nā Moku
This year, we will be traveling through the Hawaiian Islands and visiting our Polynesian friends in New Zealand and Tahiti. Our theme, Huakaʻi I Nā Moku translates to Voyaging Through The Islands. Our program features songs that tell stories about how our ancestors traveled by boat, horse, or canoe and discovered new places around the world.
This is our trademark event that attracts audiences of over 400 people, which include students, faculty, family, and more!
Every year, we celebrate and share our culture through food, song and dance. The food we serve is cooked by our volunteers, so it has an authentic and homemade taste. Our student band performs both traditional and contemporary music during dinner. The main program is choreographed and performed by our members, and feature traditional kahiko hula, contemporary auana hula, and dances from our Polynesian neighbors, the New Zealand Maori and Tahiti.
We invite you to be a part of our Lū'au by donating, buying tickets or watching the live stream of performances the day of. Please contact us with any questions you may have!
